At the L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty Retail Lab, innovation serves skincare. To transform product discovery into a personal and engaging moment, we imagined and developed an interactive connected table that invites playful exploration.
Thanks to an ecosystem of connected objects, each user is intuitively guided toward the most suitable products for their skin – serums and sun care from the Vichy and La Roche-Posay brands – through an experience that is both immersive and enlightening, in every sense of the word.
This installation goes beyond simply providing information: it creates an emotional connection – a meeting point between technology, dermatology, and the unique needs of every skin.

The connected table is equipped with interactive tokens, designed in the shape of transparent Petri dishes — both scientific and aesthetic. Each of these tokens represents a skin concern (dryness, sensitivity, dark spots…) or a key active ingredient (hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, etc.).
When placed on the table, the tokens trigger dynamic lighting and associated explanatory content — icons, visuals, and text — that guide users through an intuitive and educational journey. The device encourages interaction and curiosity, turning the search for the perfect skincare product into a simple, engaging, and illuminating path.
When the user places a token in a dedicated zone on the table, targeted lighting is instantly activated, revealing the products precisely tailored to their needs. This direct and visual interaction creates a sense of surprise and clarity, reinforcing the feeling of personalization.
This interaction is made possible by integrating NFC chips into each token, meticulously configured to communicate with the system and trigger real-time product responses.
The experience continues on a 27-inch touchscreen embedded in the table. Users can select the highlighted products, watch explanatory videos on their benefits and application methods, and access tailored dermatological advice.
At the end of the journey, a unique QR code is generated, allowing users to retrieve all their recommendations on their smartphone – extending the experience beyond the physical touchpoint.
